BACKGROUND: David Hamlin (standing top left in group photo) got his start in documentary filmwork when invited by Dan Dimancescu (crouching at center in group photo) in 1985 to join a National Geographic Magazine supported kayak expedition to Korea under the auspices of the Dartmouth College Ledyard Canoe Club. Hamlin's footage appeared on NBC-TV.
